Since its foundation in 1960 the Faculty of Economics in Subotica has developed into a contemporary research and educational institution. Thanks to its opennes to all new trends in teaching and science, the Faculty has followed and accepted all the relevant changes in international and national environment, its currucula and business philosophy being the first.
In the academic year of 1977/78, a Faculty extension was founded in Novi Sad. With a view of functioning this part of the Faculty, a new building was built, being among the most beautiful in the Novi Sad University Campus. It still functions successfully for training students living in Novi Sad and its surroundings.
The basic orientation of the Faculty is to educate students for professional careers in business and teaching. Innovated teaching programmes, consistent with researches in the world, eminent teaching staff, contemporary teaching methods, modern laboratory and study facilities are a good base for providing students with a broad knowledge and high level of academic competence in the fields of business, research and decision-making.
Students, teaching staff, research fellows and other employees at the Faculty are expected to identify with the objectives and motives of a permanent development and advancement of educational and research work.
Since the founding over 10,000 students have received their bachelor's degrees, about 3,000 students have attained their M.A. degrees and about 120 postgraduates have defended their Ph.D. dissertations.
The Faculty reaches innovation in all fields of its activities both by its own staff and engaging outstanding visiting professors and fellows from other institutions in our country and abroad, considering the reachness and exchange of ideas and initiatives as a base for development.
A very fruitful cooperation between our Faculty and business world is being developed. The Faculty has carried out a lot of projects and studies to meet the needs of enterprises for advancing and increasing their productivity. On the other hand, the Faculty meets with understanding and is donated and assisted by a number of organizations, and students are enabled practical training in these organizations.
The Faculty of Economics has always been opened for a good cooperation and has close links with many universities in the country and abroad in all scientific fields and research work.
Its worth pointing to the permanent contacts with the colleges and institutions in the U.S.A., Greece, Germany, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and FYR Macedonia.
